Who We Are

Shonubi, Musoke and Company Advocates was registered as a law firm in 1987 soon after the liberation war which disposed of the oppressive dictatorial regimes that had characterised Uganda for several years.

The firm was started at a time when new attitudes and opportunities were emerging in Uganda, and has steadily grown into one of the largest firms in the country. We have established ourselves as a leading law firm in Uganda and are proud to be one of the few firms in the country that own their business premises.

In a jurisdiction where few firms have managed to specialise, we have succeeded in building a specialised practice with core capabilities in all fields of corporate and commercial law ranging from non-contentious transactional work to highly contentious complex litigation. Our endeavours have enabled us to build a solid reputation and this fact is exemplified by our lengthy and ever increasing portfolio of impressive international and local clients.

The firm is the Uganda member of the Africa Legal Alliance an extensive network of the continent’s leading firms in Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. The key features of the Africa Legal Alliance include the sharing of know-how, expertise and market information and more importantly the ability to carry out cross border legal work with proven and reliable foreign counsel.

The firm has been featured as a top tier firm in widely respected global law firm guides such as Chambers and Partners Global Guide and IFLR 1000, (the guide to the World’s leading financial law firms) which have both ranked us as a top-tier firm for the last decade, including this year - 2010.
