Hellen is a Partner at the firm. She obtained an LLM (with Merit) in International Banking and Finance Law from University of Leeds, United Kingdom, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre, Uganda and a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University, Uganda.
She is a member of the East Africa Law Society and the Uganda Law Society.
She specialises in banking and finance. She has also handled private equity, assets financing, corporate financing and project financing.
Hellen was seconded to King and Wood Mallesons (Dubai office) and Supreme Group under the prestigious International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) training programme. She has advised International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Standard Bank of South Africa and Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited in respect of the provision of a loan facility to a leading telecom tower company for the acquisition, maintenance and operation of telecom facilities in Uganda. She has also advised Standard Bank Plc on the provision of Islamic finance based facilities to a regional group of companies in the fuel supply industry.
Her expertise in these areas have earned her a nod from IFLR1000, which has since tagged her as a Rising Star in financial services. She has also been recognized by Legal500 as a Next Generation Lawyer. She was described as, "very professional and knowledgeable"
She has been invited to facilitate at the National Bar Association as part of the mentoring programme.
She co-authored a published article in IFLR1000 providing an overview of the Ugandan Public Private Partnership Bill 2012, that was published by IFLR1000 2015.
Experience includes:
- Advised International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Standard Bank of South Africa and
Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited in respect of the provision of a loan facility to a leading
telecom tower company for the acquisition, maintenance and operation of telecom facilities
in Uganda.
- Advised a leading energy company in Uganda on a syndicated capital expenditure financing
from IFC, Standard Chartered Bank and Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited.
- Advised Standard Bank Plc on the provision of Islamic finance based facilities to a regional
group of companies in the fuel supply industry.
- Advised Standard Bank of South Africa on a series of complex collateral management and
borrowing base facilities to an Africa wide, agricultural supply chain group of companies,
which transaction involved security partially comprising of commodities warehoused in
Uganda.

to enter into the Uganda banking industry.
